FAQ's

How long do your cold-process soaps need to cure?

Cold-process soap needs time to cure after it is made. Our bars typically cure for 4–6 weeks before they are ready to be sold. This allows excess water to evaporate and gives the bar time to become harder and longer-lasting.

How strong are your scents?

It depends on the product, but we intentionally keep our scents balanced!

Soaps + Body Scrubs

  • Essential oils or carefully measured fragrance oils, balanced, not overpowering

Candles

  • Quality fragrance oils, a noticeable but comfortable scent.

Lip Gloss + Lip Balms

  • Food-grade flavoring oils, soft, subtle scent + flavor.

Why do you use palm oil in your soaps?

We use sustainably sourced palm oil in some of our soap recipes. Palm oil can help create a harder, longer-lasting bar with a creamy lather. We choose sustainably sourced palm oil because responsible sourcing matters to us.

Why is mica used in your soaps?

Mica is used as a colorant to give our soaps their colors and designs. We use mica that is intended and approved for cosmetic use. It doesn't add fragrance or serve a cleansing purpose, it is simply there to make each bar look the way it does.

Why do you use canola oil in your soaps?

Canola oil is used in a small amount in some of our soap recipes as part of the overall oil blend. Like any craft, soapmaking is a process of learning and experimenting. We're always testing our formulas, learning how different oils affect the finished bar, and working toward making each batch better.

Why do your soaps contain sodium hydroxide (lye)?

Lye is an essential part of making traditional cold-process soap. When sodium hydroxide is combined with oils and butters, it starts a chemical reaction called saponification. During this process, the lye reacts with the oils to create soap. Properly formulated and cured soap does not contain leftover lye as an ingredient. It has been transformed through saponification.

Why do you use coconut apricot wax instead of soy wax in your candles?

We chose coconut apricot wax because we like the way it performs in our candles and the finish it gives the wax. We look for materials that help us create the quality and experience we're aiming for, rather than choosing an ingredient simply because it's the most common option.

Why do your body scrubs contain a preservative?
Our body scrubs are formulated with a preservative system to help protect the product from microbial contamination, especially because products used in bathrooms can come into contact with water and moisture. Preservation is an important part of making a body product that is intended to last beyond a few uses.

Why does my body scrub sometimes get hard?
Our scrubs have a high sugar content and a rich, buttery texture, so they may become firmer over time or if moisture gets into the container. This is normal for our formula. Keep the container closed and avoid introducing water to help maintain the texture and extend the life of the product.

Why might two batches look slightly different?
Small variations in color, shape, texture, or design can happen from batch to batch. We make our products by hand, and natural ingredients, temperature, curing, and the soapmaking process can all affect the final appearance. The product may look a little different, but that doesn't mean anything is wrong with it.

Why does my lip balm feel oily/softer when it's warm?
Our lip balms contain oils and butters that naturally soften with warmth. During hot weather or if the balm is kept in a warm place, it may become softer or partially melt. This is normal for the formula.

What should I do if my lip balm melts?
If your balm becomes too soft or melts, place it in a cool, dry place or refrigerate it briefly until it firms back up. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or in hot places such as a car.

Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Everyone's skin is different, so we can't guarantee that every product will work for every person. If you have sensitive skin, we recommend reviewing the full ingredient list before purchasing and choosing products that best fit your preferences.

If you have a known allergy or sensitivity to an ingredient, please check the product's ingredient list carefully and reach out to us with any questions before use.
